HEALING PROCESS

DAYS 1-2 brows will appear dark, and continue to darken as the scabs form over newly created brows. Again, they will appear VERY DARK and LARGE, and may even have a reddish color... Don’t panic!

DAYS 2-10 the scabs will harden and fall off. The bulb and tail of the brows usually fall off first, making the brows appear patchy. Let the scabs fall off on their own. If the scabs are not loose, do not pull them off!! The amount of scabbing depends on your skin, some people may only see some flakiness.

DAYS 10-14 the brow will look very, very light, almost pasty and patchy. This is normal & will darken over time.

DAYS 15- 45 the brows will continue to darken each week & will appear patchy at times. Again, this is normal. It takes about 4-6 weeks for the brows to fully heal. Any adjustments to the brows can be done at your followup

LONG TERM CARE

What should I know about long term care?

The color will lighten over time. Fading greatly depends on your skin type, lifestyle, sun exposure, pigment color used, iron deficiency, and if any chemical peels were done after your procedure.

What factors will affect my tattoo?

The sun will extremely soften the look of your tattoo, so a sunscreen should be used (once healed) to prolong your enhancement.

Sun exposure

The regeneration of skin cells

The longer the regeneration takes, the longer the ink holds.

The speed at which the skin absorbs the ink

The slower the absorption, the longer the ink will hold.

The choice of ink color

Some colors may fade quicker than others, e.g. a blonde pigment may fade quicker than a dark brunette pigment.

Bleeding during the procedure

Any bleeding during the tattooing procedure will reduce the amount of ink absorption. • If you are planning a chemical peel, or other procedure in the brow area, please inform the technician that you have had a cosmetic tattoo. Careful application must be taken to avoid affecting the tattooed area. • If you have an MRI simplu inform the technician you have a cosmetic tattoo. • If you are planning to have laser treatments, tell your laser specialist to avoid the pigmented area. Laser may cause pigment to turn black

Maintenance

Clean and exfoliate the brow area once a week to maintain the brows looking fresh. Remember, the tattoo strokes are underneath the skin. If you let dead skin cells build up over the area, the brows strokes will appear dull and very light. Keep your skin moisturized to help the tattoo appear vibrant and dark. SPF will help protect the ink from UV rays so it lasts longer! (Any over the counter face exfoliator works.)

Makeup

If you wear foundation or face powder please be aware that applying makeup OVER the brows will make the tattoo appear dull and gray (remember the ink is UNDER the skin and makeup is sitting on top) Either apply the makeup cautiously around brows or clean the access and fallout over the brow. You can also lightly apply brow makeup over as you will have a shape to follow and will only need a small amount.

Grooming Brows

Preferences vary from client to client but many find it easier to groom their brows because they have a shape to follow. You can resume getting them waxed or threaded 14 days after the procedure if you prefer to. Some clients also find that they go more time between their appointments because the shape holds well.

Color Boosts:

If you would like to maintain your brows vibrant and defined you can book color boosts anytime after 6 months. On average we see clients about 12-18 months after their first procedure, while some may take 24-36 months. Everyone is different, you need to let the tattoo fade about 40% and we must always protect the integrity of the skin first. There is no guarantee in how long it lasts as each individual has very different skin and lifestyle. During your appointment we mix inks to ensure the color blends well with your natural hair and skin color. There are some cases, however, where the color may fade to different tones according to the individual’s response to the ink. At each appointment, we will re-analyze how your body has responded to the initial color. If needed, special formula alterations to correct the color are made at this time. Clients can let the tattoo area fade over time, but please note a shadow or ink may remain.
